Tracking Patent Appeals

Info

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to litigateWe started PATracer to fill the informational void that exists on most cases between the filing of the Complaint in District Court and the Federal Circuit’s opinion years later.  For every well-publicized patent case that is covered on-line or via traditional media, there are literally hundreds of nearly anonymous cases presenting some interesting fact patterns or issues.  Our goal at PATracer is to take a look at these cases at one critical juncture–when an appeal is filed at the CAFC–and maybe keep track of the more interesting cases through briefing and oral argument.

PATalert: PATalert is PATracer’s RSS feed reporting newly announced orders and opinions from the Federal Circuit.  Shortly after CAFC publishes these opinions and orders on its website, an alert is sent out reporting on the Case name, docket number, and whether it is precedential or not.  Clicking on the link will open up a pdf of the opinion.

You can subscribe to this feature by clicking here or anywhere on the site where you see the black RSS feed icon.

The PATalert feed is provided through Feedburner, so you can optionally request that the daily update be sent via email.  It is scheduled to be sent between 1 pm and 3 pm Eastern, which on most days should be after the Federal Circuit announces that day’s decisions.
